Love In Exile.

I often remind all that if a life-saving drug like penicillin can be made out of moulded bread ,what cannot be made out of a human-being ,irrespective of a lower intellect or zeal to perform or being endowed with a handicap of circumstances of life. So, what does one do when everything appears to 'not to work' and the whole world seems topsy-turvy ?

There is not a single person to turn to for help nor any relative accecible forsuccour or first-aid . Nay,not even moral-support to help re-steel the spiritand bounce back to life's race ,somehow.

Take for instance the case of a principled crusader of justice walking out of an empire built single-handedly out of sheer dint of hard work and dedication towards work on hand leaving it all to associates out to betray for money's sake.Would such a man be able to reconcile to the drastically altered lifestyle in solitude and endure taunts, difficulties and hardships which are but natural for one not used to common amenities and a commoner's lifestyle?

Can such a person go starving and yet not reveal the pangs of hunger and worth offood hitherto unknown to a happy-go lucky leader of people? Is it humanly possible to undergo the rigours of a harsh lifestyle peppered with jibes of lesser beings and yet work silently forward to re-build from the ashes? What if such a person is also one who has discovered the existence of an Almighty andyet lose faith in the necessity of rituals and separate worship-methodologies since it is an evolved mind-set which can at will connect to the unseen?

Time is the wheel of life and in the wheel of fortune Father Time plays a great role of often being blamed as a wrong-doer or culprit but not as the ever-present catalyst to usher in better times , a whole 360 degrees !

Calls of times and conscience will but act as factors which determine the strength of character and vision with focus of the one undergoing such a 'testing time'.

However, the traveller on such a detour to success ought to realize that emphasis must be placed on never lowering the self-esteem and to work incessantly at re-building from scratch . Such a re-construction work will but be forever worthier , stronger and incapable of demolition or sabotage.

In tune with changing times one is required to attune to the demands of hostile circumstances but even if tears wash away the momentary pains and aches,it is certainly going to be worth the agonizing moments when the Phoenix comes alive - and rises from the ashes .

So,never give up in adversities .I know of those who amass wealth and lead a psuedo-life and there are those who live in parsimony but are a happy lot-lending true value to values ,morals and principles than to material possessions or tangible assets.

As the armed forces are indoctrined - 'when the going gets tough, the tough get going'. Never say die.

Blending to the circumstances of fate and never be fatalistic . Destiny helps the courageous and the determined ones who merge their soul, heart and mind to the bodily torture inflicted by external circumstances over which one usually has no control at all .

Be a Bond - bond with Nature .

If a Phoenix can rise from the ashes, can not Mankind prevent the decimation of its race by standing up to wrong-doings and lending a helping hand of Compassion to make lifes cheerful all around.Divinity propounds it and Humanity commands this display of Life, love and Energies.

Life is Precious.

IS BEAUTY BEWITCHING ?

It is a tale typical of Mankind's dilemma everywhere .Mother Nature has endowed the good Earth with plentiful water, greenery and sources of energy for Life to exist on a planet which has only one natural satellite and no other celestial body to compare with. And,Man is the only creature who can think independently and discern the differences between what is good and bad ,pleasure and pressure, man and woman , bestiality and kindness .

Kashmir is as idyllic in its resplendence and natural surroundings as it is in having a set of human population who are endowed with robust personalities and sharp, marked features which set them apart from the rest of India,America or Russia.

It is stated by reliable historical accounts that the Prophet Mohammed had stayed for long there after he had left the Arabian desertland.

It has two lovely gardens developed by the Moghul dynasty-rulers' passion for enjoyment of India's bountiful treasures called Shalimar & Nishaat Gardens-still the envy of many a landscape artist and delight for any visitor from a warmer region of the globe.

It has in pre-independent India been a State ruled by a Hindu Monarch with a predominance of subjects who professed Islam as their religion. This was in contrast to the South Indian State of Hyderabad[Deccan]where the ruler was a Muslim but the predominant religious following of the ruled was Hinduism.

It is in this backdrop of things that one ought to view the strange and very eccentric manner in which the State of Jammu & Kashmir was accorded a special-status by the outgoing British Rulers of the Indian Sub-continent in 1947 .Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru 's ancestors hailed from this region of Kashmir whereas Mohd.Ali Jinnah was ordained the 'Father of Pakistan' which was a State carved on both the western and Eastern borders of the Republic of India by those who let the freedom-fighters of India believe that they won their Independence after two centuries of struggle.

Fact is that Mahatma Gandhi's fast for a united ,undivided India without partition on lines of religion went unheeded. Then came the test of sagacity of Sardar Vallabhai Patel who as the Home Minister was left to unite all the erstwhile Princely-States into the Union of India .He achieved great success whilst carving out the new States on linguistic lines as several tongues ,dialects and languages were spoken widely across the length and breadth .Even his voice was silenced as Nehru held reign and it was his rapport with the last Viceroy Lord Mountbattern that enabled the declaration of Independent Nations of India and Pakistan .

Kashmir soon came to be ruled by Sheikh Abdullah and his family members one after another with a brief change in between by others of the opposition. It has always been claimed by neighbouring Pakistan to be its own .In fact,a portion of Jammu & Kashmir has been occupied by Pakistan ,per Indian records of war and peace.

Article 370 was included in the Constitution of India to accord a special-State status to the north Indian State of Jammu & Kashmir so much so that all other laws applicable to the rest of India were not applicable to this place. Those living outside this State cannot buy or sell land. The rest of the nation were 'alienated' by such unjust, irrational and unhappy 'rule of law'.

Strangely, the espionage units of enemically disposed ,vested interests have been fomenting trouble in the Kashmir Valley in connivance with disgruntled and anti-social elements overtly as well as covertly.A major strategy has been planting of disinformation and misinformation stories in the campaign to malign India's non-aligned policy in the international arena .

Due to unrest and terrorist attacks, several innocents have died and millions rendered homeless forcing them to flee down southwards to rest of India and rehabilitate themselves with the help of Government relief-packages and assistance from good samaritan organizations.

A major casualty in the decades old episode has been the Army personnel and para-military and State Police-personnel who are targetted by the local mobs that get incited and resort to unbridled violence and dastardly attacks on the sentinels of peace.

True, police are often accused of 'inaction' if they exercise restraint and tolerance towards mob-violence but are more villified for 'over-action' if even a mild lathi-charge is resorted to quell such a mindless violence .

Who are the incitors, instigators and culprits of the evil one-sided war being waged from within its borders is not hard to grasp for even a novice in world politics.

Geo-political location of Jammu & Kashmir is of particular importance not only to its natural country,India but also to envious neighbours and those far and distantly situated to the valley-State.

Be that as it may, huge number of Sikh population were massacred during the 1947-partition period. Then,in last few decades, vast numbers of Hindus were driven away from the place by rebellious ,fanatical groups that attacked their existence and right to be alive.

Indian Army has faced accusations of excesses as well as inaction during the entire period of controlling the ground situation.Be it Indira Gandhi or be it Rajiv Gandhi or other Prime Ministers ,none was successful in abrogating article 370 according a special-status to this State nor in engaging in counter terrorism to counter terrorism in this State.

Reason?

In the garb of 'sensitivity' ,no sensible action was taken .One good administrator has been Governor Jagmohan who was shunted out of office just as he was gaining popularity among the majority population of Muslims who were by and large disgruntled earlier.

In recent years, especially after the dastardly attack on Mumbai City [on western shores of India]on 26/11 of 2008 by terrorists from across the border, world opinion came to rest wholly in support of India on the long-thought 'bone of contention',viz; Kashmir 'problem'.

In the result, political masters from across the borders of the anti-national and secessionist forces resident in the State ordered the local actors of the wicked game-plan to utilize women and youth [including minor children]to take to the streets and resort to 'stone-throwing' and attacking the security-forces [who are under strict orders to be atacked but not attack in face of gravest provocation]since the mobsters'are our own'.[sic].

As a result ,over the last fortnight, hundreds of Police officers and lower-level constabulry and army-officers and soldiers have all been subjected to heavy stone-pelting and being spat upon and even those attacked and killed are being undressed and subjected to barbaric 'war-crimes' heard about during the times of barbarians' attacks on Christian monasteries and Church in medieval world.

The word of order and strict instruction given to the security-forces is 'RESTRAINT'.

The war-cry of the attacking mobs is 'kill them infidels'.

Who is in fault ? Is it the Leadership who like Nero fiddling while Rome burnt is sitting pretty while the Nation stands burning and hurting from 'within' or is it the wily, cruel invaders sitting pretty across the borders and remote-controlling a 'civilian-mutiny' of sorts?

It is the local,Central Government which ought to no longer continue to provide free food and rations supplied since decades to local 'majority'-population in a short-sighted policy of 'appeasement to reform' .It is a fact that even as Rice [the staple diet]is sold @ Indian Rupees forty down under, south and in national capital of New Delhi too ,it is sold @ Rs.four only in Srinagar, etc? That it and vegetables and such other essential supllies of life are provided free of cost at their doorsteps in the middle of nights too since decades .That is the reason there is no report of a 'starvation-death' or famine from the valley-state which is supposedly in the brink of a tussle for existence and identity WHEREAS you have chronic famine in other parts as for instance in Orissa's Kalahandi district!

Most alarming is the latest cry of the local fanatically-disposed Muslim population in Kashmir Valley calling upon the Sikh community to either embra ce Islam or get massacred .Quite preposterous then is it on part of the Union Government of India to render its security forces 'impotent' and immobilized as 'sitting-ducks' for stone-pelters who walk up to the Army Brigadier and hurls stones and then spits at his face ,one after another fully conversant with the fact that the disciplined soldier will not retaliate as the order is to exercise 'restraint' in face of provocation.

Should not a democratic nation indulge in counter -terrorism to counter terrorism?

Unless this be done ;unless the special-status accorded to that particular State is not removed from the Constitution, unless a Common Civil code uniformly applicable to every Citizen of India[irrespective of religion professed]is brought in, such macabre crimes against Humanity,Nationality and the Sovereignity of a great Democracy shall but continue .

Is Beauty Bewitching or can witches be beautiful ?

A TRIPLE TREAT[part eleven].

A vote of thanks was given by Ms. Prachee Bajpayee,P.R.O. of the Oxford Bookstore,New Delhi.

It was then followed by a Autograph-session when the Poet Mr.Pamarty Venkata Ramana wrote special lines for each of the copies of the lovers of Poetry .

In The Picture :

A TRIPLE TREAT[part ten].

Pamarty Venkata Ramana began with by pointing out that language has different meanings to different people and since times immemorial, people have been trying to communicate effectively with each other in order to bring about a symmetry of habits, manners and systems.

In course of evolution of Literature, Poetry attains great significance owing to the seeming lack of time in one’s hands with an increasing use of technology ,paradoxical as it may appear .He said that even as he was qualifying for five different professions simultaneously he stepped into career as an international corporate Lawyer putting in long hours ranging between 18 to 20 hours daily. In course of time,he found there wasn’t time to write columns on diverse topics anymore and switched over to blogging which again was found to be too long winded for people who did not have time on their hands despite an interest to read it all.So, he began to express his messages and thoughts to society and avid followers of his writings in the Poetry –form. Thus, began this sojourn of penning a poem a night in a matter of few minutes and it took the head of the Publications Team Srikari Literary Classics to prevail upon the need to spread the qualitative messages of his Poetry to Humanity.

Humanism is the theme of his poems and divinity was essential in the scheme of things to arrive at a just society of law and order. He explained several incidents which influenced his thinking in course of world travels and case-matters dealt which ultimately prompted him to goad upon Mankind to change the course of History of Humanity by retracing their faltering and faulty steps and to inculcate the higher values of a simplified thinking, puritan lifestyle and high thinking in evolving policies ,systems and edicts of religious prescription too.

He read out 'BLOOD,NOT WATER' to highlight the most common and basic emotion and nature of all people,i.e;the real and intrinsic value of tears which in fact are not mere wasted water from the human body but all the different meanings, definitions and traits attributed by the Poet in this classic piece of literature.

He then read out two other Poems 'A SWAN SONG' and ' ON LOVING ALL' on request of the audience which he said are meant to guide and steer a mind-set from being a 'lovely' mind to an 'adult' mind to the ultimate dimension of a 'free' mind.

He then linked up the essence of all emotions and feelings of Mankind and informed that be it the President of a Nation or a lowly labourer or a doting housewife,Life has a purpose, cause and distinct meaning which is quite apart and different from that of a fruit-fly which is born, reproduces and dies within the space of 24-hours.

Life is a Blessing and Education of the Nation is important and it is much more than being a literate society .Higher Learning is a state of being prepared to unlearn the values long held and to accept fresh thought with an open mind and receptive heart. In the result, one would be a majority and each one of us can help contribute in a distinctive manner and reform the society and the world of Man as a whole- silently ,swiftly but definitely.

He said it was his mission to usher in peace, understanding and amity amongst societies of varying cultures, precepts and compositions and different I.Q.-levels to help enlighten one and all of the 'Cause of Life', 'Purpose of Life' and the 'Meaning of Life'.

He informed the others who spoke a few minutes each on the reason of their liking his Poetry that it is good news that there were three requests from Professors to be permitted to undertake post-doctoral thesis on his Poetry;that there were offers from the U.S.A. to make song- albums from the Poetry Collection and that discussions were underway for the simultaneous translations being undertaken by select scholars in 18 languages of the world.

He expressed a desire that more and more peoples of the world do take to reading Poetry as a fine art of study, recreation and relaxation .It ultimately enriches the quality of Human Life.

A TRIPLE TREAT[part nine].

Dignitaries among the audience spoke praises of the Poet whom they said they only knew from close quarters and admired as a thorough professional and eminent Supreme Court Lawyer .And many assembled know that PAMARTY VENKATA RAMANA has been the chief architect of the famed Nizam Jewellery case, one of the largest matters of the nation which links India’s heritage to pre-independence era to post-freedom struggle and the swiftest court battle ever staged which received the Parliament’s approval for preserving a national wealth within the country and not letting the priceless ,antique collection of jewellery to fall into hands of anti-national elements .

He braved an attack on him and argued 16 matters with a bandaged head the very morning to win the nation’s largest case spanning 252 crores and 800 centuries of socio-political and legal history.

As Ms.Shilpa Agarwal from the Publication Team said -...'I know there are several feathers to his credit and the reason I am narrating one instance is to help us know of the enormous man-hours of knowledge, illumination and enlightenment experienced by this able and hard-working man of integrity and creative talent-unparalleled in modern times by any other ...'

She then invited the distinguished audience to give a standing ovation to welcome the Poet ,Mr.Pamarty Venkata Ramana to address the gathering .

A very specially crafted designer Treasure Box[made by 'the-wood-people]exclusively ordered for the Treasured set of Books was presented to the Poet by SRIKARI LITERARY CLASSICS .

A TRIPLE TREAT[part seven ].

A healthy mind is a bare essential for a healthy long life – is another message we get today. And,it is my pleasure to welcome Dr.A.K.Mukherjee who is a doyen of Medicine ,Surgery and Health Care in India known world-wide and one of the very few who possess an original OXFORD DOCTORATE from the original OXFORD UNIVERSITY[U.K.]

Dr.A.K.Mukherjee ,the President of the Spinal Cord Society of India and Director-General of the premier Spinal Injuries Centre is a world renowned Health-care expert and doyen of the Medical-field in India .

He quoted from ancient Sanskrit scriptures of Hinduism and pointed out the qualitative purity and strength of the Poet which he certified as a genuine ,blue-blooded Doctorate from Oxford University [U.K.].He elaborated at length the veneer of gentle, subtle reasoning which Mr.Pamarty Venkata Ramana weaves in his works with a view to bring about an upsurge in the thought-process and behavioural-pattern of a society ridden with diseased minds, eroded values and cut off from realities of existence of Man on Earth.

He said the title –‘PROPHET OF NEW-AGE POETRY’ conferred upon the Poet was wholly justified and is good news for the whole world .He further declared that in his Vision and experience spanning many decades of travel across the globe, the works of PAMARTY VENKATA RAMANA should reach every village of India and villages across the world since it is one small Global Village today and in dire need of this Life-saving dose of food for soul, medicine for the mind and strength to lead a life of well-being,happiness and peace.

In The Picture :

A TRIPLE TREAT[part six].

Industrial progress can be well achieved only if there are humanistic principles based on public policy and kindness tempered with a code of ethics – says the Poet.We have amidst us glowing examples of simplicity ,success and humility in victory ,viz; Shri. S.K.MODI and Shri S.S.KOHLI –exemplary winners and favourites of God Almighty.

Mr.S.K.Modi a doyen of Indian Industry and a most successful patriarch of a top-notch Business House [MODI GROUP] unveiled a plaque titled ''ABOUT THE POET'' .

Mr.S.S.Kohli,another self-made Hotelier and patriarch of the Hospitality Industry in India also assisted Mr.Modi in the introduction of the POET to the world at large.

They said said that although it is often whispered in hush tones that lawyers are dry beings, Mr.Pamarty Venkata Ramana an eminent International Jurist has shown that good lawyers have thinking minds and caring hearts whose life is dedicated to a universal movement of Peace and Love for everybody in the society.

Both described the unique quality ,style and loveliness of his works and the present triple Collection of Poetry as under –

…’It requires a personal reading to be drawn into his absorbing literary style , power of words used and the unique line of thoughts in his presentation of themes of Humanism ,be it on the importance of conferring status of a Goddess to a Woman or to decry the verdict which seeks to kill the institution of holy matrimony by legitimizing same gender wedlock or the permanence of the Soul over bodily Self of a person ..'

In The Picture :

Soldiers are as human as any civilian of the society we live in – said the Poet in one of his outpourings .So, we have Brigadier J.K.Narang a very senior Army –officer of the Nation who has witnessed the importance of human values amidst action on war-front many times.

Brigadier J.K.Narang from the Indian Army’s Border Roads Organization unveiled the third Collection – ‘A MASTER’S PIECE’ .He said that although he has not gone through all the Collections of the Poet ,his common sense and considered opinion was that unless there was substance and extra-ordinary material content in the works of Mr. Pamarty Venkata Ramana , society and people would not be so excited about his Poetry.

He complimented the statement of the poet that ‘often times, the military personnel were more civilized than the self-styled civilian population’ of a country'.

He said the Spirit of Patriotism,Disciplined thought and Mature outpourings certainly displayed fragrance of a world class School of Literature .

The Giani unveiled the First Book – ‘IN A BLINK ‘.He pointed out the necessity of having such Poetry which sought to awaken Humanity to the folly of disregarding Divinity in one’s daily lifestyle. Lauding the thread of thought woven by the Poet in his Poems, he emphasized the unifying bond of Humanity through Religion and said that purpose of a ‘Guru’ or Master must not be undermined in any manner by anybody. He also spoke of the bonding of different vernacular languages in thought and religious utterances and importance of the Poetry-works of Mr. Pamarty Venkata Ramana for unifying Mankind which professed differing religious schools .

In The Picture :

One Ugly Duckling

It is no time to rejoice .Despite the ‘guilty be hanged to death’-verdict prounced today in a Mumbai court, the road of Justice is not a dead-end to criminals in our highly ‘open’-society.
It is not a matter of regret either that the sacrifice made by martyred policemen on 26/11 of 2008 has borne result in declaring to the outside world that the stem of anti-Indian sentiments is deeply rooted in conspiracies hatched, one after another , in the neighbouring land that once was a part of the umbilical-cord of Indian sub-continent .
It is not a mere coincidence either that the car-bomb planter of Times Square[New York] the other day was fleeing back to this very land from USA via the middle-eastern route.
It is a testimony of the times we live in that whereas the oldest democracy of the world had the administrative and intelligence to escort back the aeroplane in which the terrorist was fleeing the land of dreams, the largest democracy of the world offered all privileged facilities including that of an open trial to the captive-terrorist throwing open the fair process of democracy to one who was out to destabilize it .
It is time to ponder whether we remain a vulnerable third-world country who seems to be deluded by a very fragile constitutional establishment or do we require to assert that Nationalism has to be injected back into the administrative process in order to rub shoulders with truly advanced nation like the USA.
It is a shame that we had to suffer the ignominy of the mass media splashing the face of the terrorist across the nation as if he were a war-hero [and stay put as helpless sitting, lame ducks] but it certainly is a matter of pride that the frail walls of justice have not permitted a travesty of justice - the anti-national element ought to be blacked out of our minds and the fluttering National Flag of INDIA ought to be visible in all news reports covering this date and verdict .
Jai Hind.

Rama was the epitome of virtuosity in its complete sense and forms. No wonder he is not revered in this age and times .So musical were the chants of ‘Jai Sriram’ when a mere two-M.P.s party rose up magically to form governments at the centre.Almost magically, the number of elected parliamentarians rose up and accumulated. As mystically, their rank and file stopped uttering the cry of ‘Jai Sriram’ and their strength dwindled as mysteriously ,almost wiping out the very face of the said party from the national scenario.
What ails India?
Is it the society or the unsocial elements courting politics, business and every other sphere which has led to no more whispers nor wishes to establish a ‘Rama Rajya’ in the great land known as ‘BHARATA’ since times immemorial?
Rama Rajya is no utopian dream. It in fact was the ultimate form of existence of a democracy within a monarchy. The lone near resemblance if any of the golden scheme of such a king belonging to the subjects while being led to govern for the welfare of the people comprising the kingdom is Britain.India is a far cry from Ram Rajya. Why?
Since no man is a Rama in our land today .Not even yours truly was obedient to a wonderful father [I had spurned lucrative MNC offers to set up practice ,against the advice of a doting father who knew the toll a hectic life would take upon his son]whereas Rama did not bat an eyelid in obeying his father Dasaratha’s unexpected command to forsake the throne and go into exile in a jungle.
No man in our country today would drive his spouse away based on heresay of a lowly washerman’s scolding of his wife .Rama exhibited the quality of being a king first and an individual placed below the people’s voice.
Rama went in search of Rakshasas[demons] who were disrupting the yagnas[prayers and penance] of great rishis[sages and medicants] in the forest and vanquished them to enable the pious to offer prayers in peace and happiness. No man in our land [myself no exception]would consent to conscription or compulsory military service against terrorists in Kashmir region or even in our own cities of residence].
Rama was faithful to his wife,Sitadevi and went in search of her .No man in this country today can even think of roaming on foot across the length and breadth of this vast country .Partly because the twelve years of exile would be completed even in making the rounds of the dozen or so police-stations one would have to run around even to have the First Information Report lodged ,in such tragic circumstances.
Rama was like no man alive today .Therefore no man today [especially the ones who occupy the seats of power ]can be equated with Rama.
Mere mortals reign today .Rama was a human form who rose to the exalted position of a Lord incarnate of God Almighty through an exemplary life of tests of ethics, equality and even the strength of character .None dare even imagine measuring up to his exemplary and wonderful ways in a whole lifetime: not even Obama or Osama nor the Chinese Premier[who are the most powerful men alive on the planet today].
So,it is impossible to bring in a RAMA RAJYA in this the 21st century of our times on earth. It is especially impossible in India.
‘Mera Bharat Mahan’ is a slogan ,not a statement of Rama, the doer of action positive,in the overall good of humanity’s quest for peace, law, order, prosperity and dharma[justice].
‘Hey Ram’,said the Mahatma in his last breath.
‘Oh My God’ say the anglicized Indians .
One ought to say ‘JAI SRIRAMA’ at least today ,
the day of Sri Ramanavami.

MASS OF ALSO-RANS...!!!!

Mass frenzy grips the nation. It does not mean a mass of people being in frenzy en masse .Nor does it merit frenzied mobs going berserk .

I mean the mass of frenzied mindsets who seem to both hate others as well as love themselves -all at once .Both the acts of humanity seem contradictory but being self-obsessed, there seems to be no contraindication of the vacuum which fills their mass called the brain itself.
Neither the legislators nor the business-folk;not the peasant nor a countryside farmer; not a casual laborer nor the self-employed, the ones who really seem to be the only employed are the ones who are termed ‘middle class’: these constitute the likes of all those who can neither stoop to the level of kowtowing to the rowdy across the street who is a self-styled leader who distributes pattas [titles of land]or one who would throw around wads of notes to pay the ‘black’-money component too of the exorbitant cost of lands. These are the mass who keep alive the notion of there being in existence a higher force of nature called GOD and the many who keep any religion alive .
Mass frenzy is the order of the day . Be it adorning the mainroads with huge statues or be it garlanding a not diminutive sized woman-leader with huge garlands of currency-notes repeatedly in full public view .Same would be the situation when the living house of the main opposition leader in a state was razed to the ground .Likewise is the situation when magical sounding phrases like IPL or SRK are bandied about to invent thousands of crores of rupees worth of a parallel economy .And an even greater number of idlers and sycophants across the nation.
Are we a frenzied nation .Or am I working up a frenzy about this mass of do-nothing-but-seem-gooders?
Whatever it is all much ado about nothing .Them all, I mean .Not the realists.

NOT AN ENACTMENT...!!!

Act of God is a valid defence under the law of tortious liability. To the layman, this would mean that natural calamities such as an earthquake ,a tsunami or a cyclone preventing the due and timely or diligent carrying out of an obligation under a given contract would be regarded to be factors beyond the control of human actions .So, any default under such a scenario would not impose automatic liability on the defaulter for such a breach.
Act of State would certainly include within its ambit the action of a war breaking out between two countries.Of late, the social situation has been refined by acts of terrorism to include a finer differentiation between ’state-actors’ and ‘non-state actors’ in such a warfare directed at destabilization of another country, society or economy.
It must be in this backdrop that the seemingly hi-tech sounding CIVIL liability for nuclear damage Bill has to be understood. It is a law sought to be passed in consequence of the Nuclear Treaty signed by our country with the USA.
It is good that the said bill got derailed today in the Lok Sabha.
In its present form it lays a limit on the amount of compensation payable to the sufferers, affected parties [and often times, these would but be legal heirs of deceased victims in a nuclear accident]at a figure of Rs.300 crores[convert this in terms of U.S.Dollars and see the real sum total of upper limit pre-decided as being payable by the 'operator' of a nuclear plant in India.
It says says that the operator would not be liable for any nuclear damage if the incident was caused by 'grave national disaster of exceptional character, armed conflict or act or terrorism '.Imagine a scenario wherein negligence being attributed to the operator himself [without allegation or evidence of act of terror'].
It has incorporated provisions that would enable the government to either increase or decrease the amount of liability of any operator [it isa gateway to lengthy and cumbersome litigation since it is not specific when it could be hiked or lowered] .
Union Carbide Gas tragedy of Bhopal has been a real-time experience for this nation comprising of a largely gullible and often helpless majority because the bills are enacted by those few seated in the haloed floors of the august Parliament .Real expression of concern on such a vital issue cannot be staged through mass rallies by so-called protestors nor can it be ignored if INDIA IS TO SURVIVE IN THE WORLD COMITY OF NATIONS and reach the coverted membership of the U.N.Security Council.
Hence, all right thinking intellectuals and jurists of the country should brain storm with legislators and parliamentarians ,present and past in order to arrive at pragmatic and valid provisions in the proposed Special Law.
A reasoned Act of Reason must not be reprehensible to the good conscience of a peace loving overly populated society as ours .Hence,a serence and better sense should prevail .Parliament should not act in haste and let the country’s people repent at leisure. This is the the need of the hour.

GOD DAMNED MEN ?

God disposes when man proposes .Not the other way .This has become amplified umpteen number of times since times immemorial.Of late, scoops and revealations have brought home the point to the fore. Sadly though the discoveries of escapades and wrongful exploits of criminal mindsets has helped fan the theory of the non-believers that it is right to disbelieve in the existence of God.
God is real .God exists. Unless this truth of human existence be admitted, death cannot be accounted for .No other authority superior to mankind exists in the universe’s order of things .Hence, a supernatural force [call it GOD if you please!]prevails ,always. And,irrespective of whether or not one and all of humanity acknowledges or bows to God.
Idolatory may be reprehensible to the minds of a few .Others more evolved would denigrate the very idea of a God .Stranger then that although idolatory is frowned upon, these very people flock to the cameras and the studios or exhibit their photographs in full make-up and bright fineries.
Godmen is a wrong phrase put up by the loosely minded among the mass media. As is customary ,successive generations merely ape the predecessors. There is never any actual ,real application of mind to understand either the words or the sects of such beings on earth. After all, they too eat, drink ,sleep and the whole lot of physiological actions undertaken by fellow human beings. So, what needs to be understood is that God is a concept relating to the Soul of the being and not concerned with neither body nor form.
If there be no God and all who believe in the existence of a God Almighty are termed, dubbed, clubbed with the likes of phoney’godmen’,then all religions on earth would bear neither justification nor an explanation for their existence.
God Save Mankind.

HOUSE OF DOLLS….!!!

I could never fathom the fun and exclusivity of dolls and doll-houses being offered especially to little girls, across the world. It has taken all of two decades of public interaction to realize the purpose and intent behind the customary way of looking at things.
For one, there never was the concept of ‘gender-discrimination’ those ancient days .It was just the fact of co-existence of the males and the females of the human species.Secondly, nobody ever complained of the woman staying back at home to be branded the ‘housewife’ whilst the man of the house went out to fend for the family’s livelihood-becoming the ‘house-holder’.Next,technology was conspicuous by its absence leaving no room for the spread of either mass movements nor the concept of ‘equality of woman and man’.
I now seem lost and forlorn in my cry for a re-thinking on the unchecked and unbridled use of freedom of thought, life and liberty by excessively liberated folks who choose to ignore the pleas of the conservative and the tradition-bound mindsets of the disciplinarians.Every ear is deaf it seems ;every mind has stopped its original functioning it appears .All are beset by the mass propoganda unleashed through popular media and in corridors of power.
Whither the concept of human security and security of life?Is marriage no longer an institution? Are womenfolk going to be rid of the harrassments and domestic violence being meted out to them with the mere passage of the bill categorizing them in the legislative sphere? What is required to prevent the dressing up of mannequins and dolls or the conversion of an august house of wisdom into a doll-house?
An ounce of honesty ,a good measure of self-introspection and a whole lot of goodwill for all the women of the country-be they from a rural or urban region;be they literates or illiterates;be they young or old.
Mangled ideas and hasty bills cannot reset lives nor dictate reason into the bad conscience of a whole nation who seem to have been left in a state of uncertainity, confusion and ennui in the name of a people’s democracy.
Acts of preservation are of paramount importance ,not an act of reservation for a few.

WISHING A FISH...!!!

To or not to bite the bait?
So ask the fish, big fish, small fish, bigger fish ,all of them.
They know they are not amphibian creatures nor are they akin to man.
Mankind they know can be very compassionate ,when it chooses them to be.
It is a man’s world after all. No right thinking water-fish would ever dare to leap out of the safety of the deep[even shallower]waters and risk the prospect of ending up on the dinner-table of a big-fry man.
I would forever rate the famous lesson of Bible [teach a man to catch a fish for a living rather than feeding him fish]as one of the apt morals for living. The art of living does not comprise merely of rubbing shoulders with all and sundry or painting spots on a cat’s skin to make it appear a leopard. It has more than the science of make-up ,technology or no technologies…!
So, arise ,awake and stay vigilant all you piranhas ,cat-fish,sharks, whales and the littler sweet ones .Do not become fodder for snarling ‘fish-eat-fish’ carnivores nor those who stalk unsuspecting edibles, irrespective of the prey being molluscs or edible fish.
Stay in your bounds and do not let them befool you into imagining that the boundaries for a woman’s domain have widened with the passage of the so-called Bill.
After all, any reservation fixing a quota will automatically become a constricting noose which restricts your ability to dribble all across the playing field.
And,the Parliament or the Assemblies alone are not arenas where you womenfolk require reservation, recognition and ‘respect’.
Food for thought?

ENABLE ,NOT EMPOWER…!!!

Empowerment of women is the slogan being bandied about by even dynamic females of the human species.I beg to differ.Empowerment is not required;enable a woman.
Be it one’s sibling, spouse or a mere stranger on the street, bills and laws;policies and awards;quotas or reservations would be rendered meaningless as well as impotent unless enablement is a reality.
Allow the girL child to be born.Let the young women have a choice to select their life-partners.Banish the pernicious evil of dowry-harrassment and oneupmanship .Married ladies ,whether housewives or career-builders ought to be let to rest atleast once in a while.Widows and aged womenfolk ought to be given preference from among the supposedly ‘reserved’-portion allocated for womenfolk.
A thing well begun is half well completed they say.Euphoria and mirages galore in a woman’s lifetime-markedly more in our society.
Therefore,be not led or misled by the cries of hurrah or the gaiety being marked across the nation in the backdrop of steeply risen prices of essential commodities.
Where a woman be respected and revered ,such a society shall be a happy and prosperous one.A household-unit is the place to start this campaign, not the high security well of the Parliament.Empower the lady of the house .Enable HER empowerment. And,you would but be a mighty drop in the vast ocean of human kindness, compassion and understanding.
One would naturally do well and hasten to add the necessary caution that not all females are women eligible for such an honourable treatment - or else there would be no MCP in existence .Extreme elements of nature render certain womenfolk to be dreaded by even other women in the society[No,am not referring to the soap-operas of saas-bahu drama but to real life characters who make life miserable for entire lifetime. Many a client testifies to this sad fact .
All said,we ought to restore the pristine gory of our nation whose tradition and culture carried the ethos of respect for woman - not the pathetic display of revulsion or disdain for their concerns.
Enable them,empowerment is automatic.

MOTHERS OF NATION…!!!

Euphoria has been the blessing of mankind to womanhood.Man is born and made ,from the umbilical cord of life to the end of a domineering stint on earth.
No woman on the face of the planet has ever been a truly blessed being -be it as a child,a sibling,a daughter,a mother, a spouse ,a granny or just a companion or co-worker at the work-station.
I am not being pessimistic nor castigating the ilk of chauvnists who persistently look down upon womenfolk. It is high time the ebb turned a full wave and Women are truly permitted to bask in the glory they deserve and seem to seek [albeit through the activist groups that have been espousing equal rights campaigns].
It is not a centenary of celebration of womanhood as an annual tribute nor is it a paen of praise for the motherhood of al mankind which prompts yours truly to put things in perspective after witnessing all the hullabulla of 14-years in the Indian Parliamentary corridors.
Fourteen years was the span of the great Mahabharata war.It is also the time-period of epoch-making Rama’s exile and trysts with demonic forces. While analysing the fracas and histronics put up in the august upper house of the country ,it is but essential to observe that not one of those macho men who seemingy want to be credited with the ‘passage’ of the bill for 33% quota of women[The bill seeks to reserve for women 181 of the 543 seats in the Lok Sabha and 1,370 out of a total of 4,109 seats in the 28 State Assemblies]has ever debated nor spoken up for the cause of the poor womenfolk who get ‘fined’ under the SITA[Suppression of Immoral Trafficking in Women Act]or for those who brides who got burnt for ‘dowry’ nor of those pityiably hapless women who get moested in public viewing on charges of black-magicand sorcery].Not one has the moral courage to vacate his seat in the legisature and offer it to a servant-maid of a neighbour or the washer-woman of the village, either!
It ought to be viewed in its true picture.Constitution of India provides for a bill proposing such an amendment to be passed by a 2/3rd majority also in the lower house[Lok Sabha]when it is piloted in the other house and ‘passed’,as was the case yesterday.
Watching the charade and parade of several vested interests and chauvunistic elements occupying important seats of ‘power’,it is wel nigh impossible to have the law reach the statue books after ultimate Presidential approval, eventually. There is many a slip between the cup and the lip - as every housewife and girl-chid in the nation knows.
What is the meaning of such an imaginary reservation for women when compared with the actual census-figures of female population in the vastly over-populated nation?
This alone will hold the key to all remedial laws in our democracy. How ese would one explain the false bravado being exhibited by those claiming credit for the show in the Rajya Sabha as also the exhibitionist showmanship of those who had to be bodiy lifted out of the upper house ?
‘Bharat Matha ki Jai’ !
Jai Hind!!
HAIL THE WOMAN often martyred from birth, betrayed by marriage and revered after all…!!!

ACT OF GIVING.

India has a great tag of being a nation of ‘givers’.
Philosophy of life revolves since centuries around the acts of philanthropy and caring for mankind.
History is replete with instances of ‘giving’ turning out to be ‘grieving’.
How?
The moghul invaders were offered hospitality but they used the sword to overpower and plunder the riches.
When the English traders were welcomed ,their interest in commercialization of the natives got the better of their initial taste for spices and condiments alone, they enslaved a whole sub-continent.
Out-sourcing is the name of the game with contemporary mercenaries of mankind.
Our youth give their ‘all’ literally to the foreigner ‘masters’ and in lieu of few green dollar-bills ,they work their guts out during nights and catch up on few winks during waking hours …
Giving is a fine art indeed. I for one was brought up on such ancient ideas as to partake of your meal with guests and strangers too before attending to thy own self. In course of real-time life experiences in practice as a ‘generous’ and ‘blind’-giver,I discovered the stupidity of it all. Giving ought not to be ‘blind’ nor ‘automatic’.
Give by all means .Be philanthropic certainly but all within bounds and measures .Measure the need and requirement of the asker ,so to speak.
Only such a ‘donation’ or ‘act of giving’ would count and be purposeful as would indeed enable the receiver .Not every gift or act of giving will reach the balance-sheet of God or man. Rest assured that giving is the mark of a human-being. Compassion is the sole attribute which makes a man humane. Kindness must not be misread nor misconstrued as cleansing one’s own sins or commissions and omissions in leading the lifestyle of one’s choice .
Giving must therefore be the exercise of discretionary power which determines the intelligence of the giver as well as the utility of the recipient’s efforts at enhancing the lifestyle of the society in general or of a definite segment ,in the least.
Philanthropy/Giving in India requires a new-age definition to help streamline its vast charitably disposed givers and doers towards effective attainment of their respective goals in life.

HOLI OF LIFE....!!!

A CAGED MAN...!!!

A free bird ,a free mind and the sunset of life shall be a happy combination for a story-teller.Not so this evening when one recalls the callousness with which martyrs are forgotten whereas deserters of homestead seem to be eulogized, for nothing…err,it is erroneous to thing it is all much ado about nothing .
Beg your pardon? Yes, smuggling of art and artefacts are frowned upon by laws of a civilized world.Money-laundering techniques include works of art being sold, undersold, oversold, insured and re-touched so to speak.
Am I touching a raw chord? No,it is a fact of life that whereas Salman’bhai’ was netted by the mullahs of religiosity for his seemingly uncharitable remarks, the old man by the sea who was a client in good old Hyderabad[his house was sought to be converted to an art museum post-gaja gamini episodes]seems to enjoy the full support of a tiny land of hefty commission-agents and brokers of oily deals[no pun meant, all straight-faced submissions friends!]…
Why then must the other desi old man by the Arabian Sea [again an uncanny resemblance of study in contrasting rise and eclipsing ,respectively]cry foul for a fallen man ?If in fact the one crying hoarse about being crucified by a section of politicos and busybodies in the world’s greatest secular land is indeed a patriot , would not he have gracefully ‘turned down’ the offer of citizenship by an alien land in which he was residing [no mere refugee]and returned to the lavish bungalow in Banjara Hills ,for instance?
Or is it a timely wake-up call for us all compatriots of a proud nation that it is high time to make an ‘open offer’ that whosoever[I mean all who have /are harbouring a secret desire]seeks to embrace another nationality [be it of the Middle East or of South East Asia or elsewhere]may please be welcomed to make an exit with all their mortal assets forthwith?
It will certainly help restore the greatness of a noble ,ancient civilization as Bharat’s and lessen the burden of population upon statistics [incl.productivity figures and per capita income]besides, making it a more enjoyable land for both the Natives as well as the ones who feel estranged after partition of the Indian sub-continent…
Amen?
Aye,aye,all…!!
JAI HIND !!!

STATE OF TIGERS…!!!

I was reminded of a personal tryst with a white cheetah when I received a sms from a friend that they were at a tiger sanctuary in Rajasthan but they weren’t ‘lucky’ to spot a tiger on two whole days of safaris but that they did see hear a ‘leopard’ near their hotel - out in the bushes .

I was equally drawn to the chain of memories on reading the news-item just a while ago of the alarm raised in the Guwahati Zoo yesterday when a eight-year old tigress [one who tasted human-blood three years ago]walked out of her caged enclosure ,alongwith a one and a half year old cub .Fortunately ,for the ten thousand odd people present in the zoo-campus,both the mother and child were tranquillized and caged back in a space of two hours.

It was not the case with another tiger in another part of the country yesterday [in Bhiwani Zoo of Haryana State]when a tiger mauled a zoo employee who had forgotten to lock the cage after keeping meat for the big cat.

It was a full moon night when yours truly was returning by a Maruti Van from a meeting in a palace built in the midst of the Adilabad jungles of Andhra Pradesh State [through Naxalist-infested dense forest-land]after visiting a Member of Parliament whose teak-forest property was the subject of my discussions that evening, alongwith my client who had done his bit of real-time shikar prior to independence of India,i.e;during the British Raj era.

Predictably,I was excited having grown up on Mulk Raj Anad’s and Jim Corbett’s tales of tigers in Indian jungles. But ,little did I realize that God and Nature had a pleasant surprise in store for us.As we sped steadily on the thin ribbon-like road to cross the den of extremist-elements[they would take to a lawyer as does a man-eating tiger to flesh of humans]asap.

All on a sudden ,we saw a circle of a band of the dreaded people holding their meeting at midnight in the midst of the jungle but the vehicle gave us our speed [Besides, our host I suspect had a role in signalling our safe passage as being 'friends, not foes']and as we were nearing the highway in a hundred kilometres distance ,I saw something shining and white glowing in the beautiful moonlight and I asked my client on the wheels to slow down .He did but did not stop. After a couple of minutes, I was struck [so was he and the burly Nawab sitting in the backseat and puffing away on his cherrot!]by the dazzling beauty of the white striped feline sitting majestically - in the centre of the road, commandingly .

I goaded my friend to halt but the otherwise brave paan-chewing man turned the vehicle away into a dirt-path in the forest and we took a detour of about ten minutes to cross about ten kilometres of distance and then joined the highway-track.But again,lo and behold, our White Friend was up there sitting ahead on the road as if commanding us to halt and shake his paws…!I was both foolhardy as well as seized by a sense of bravado or mesmerized fantastic rush of blood and asked the van to be halted but again my travel companion turned the vehicle and sped us away in another narrow direction…

His explanation was that the jaguar is the fastest animal on the planet and if iot came dashing through the windshield, neither the vehicle nor the occupants will survive the crash!I could recall the sign-posts of kangaroo-tracks of the Australian landscape or those of great black bears in North Carolinan territory…!

A little ahead we saw villagers sleeping on cots out in the open of an otherwise pleasant summer night ,alongside cows and buffaloes…!!
Imagine how beastly human-beings and an almost human-like beast transformed my outlook towards life on earth and the state of our society…~!!

I am therefore compelled to pour the mixed feelings of angst at the non-sighting of tigers in a reserved sanctuary whilst those caged in a zoo are turning man-eaters.

Where have the wizards of Project Tiger vanished?

Psst,am not referring to the decimation of self-styled tigers amongst we humans.I realize we are more inhuman than the tiger…!!!

Winter of Discontent.

It certainly has been a bitter month of a cruel winter last month in our country .While it is nothing new in forein lands to face such climes of extreme cold temperatures and dense foggy conditions, the weather in India has been a shocker of sorts. It certainly took the wind out of the sails. All of us travelling whether by air or by train-routes had to suffer the spine-chilly taste of the chilly weather .
Yours truly for instance was always eager to take the 11-day long journey on the world's longest rail-route in Russia but one long journey from Allahabad to the national capital spanning the time-zone of twenty-six hours made the T20 cricketing format seem as dreary as a five-day long test-match .Unbelievably, unwittingly, unexpectedly the arduous journey enabled me to taste the 'fun' of the longest day and the longest night of the year pass as a combined unsavoury treat.
No more do I visualize the spectacle of being stranded at 'Dakshin Gangotri'[the Indian base-camp in Antarctica ] - which is much more down below our Down Under -land ,Australia.
Three cheers however to the wintry season one has been able to find good use for the overflowing winter coats ,the mufflers and the woolen cardigans on home ground .
I say 'No thank ,you Sir' to Santa's offer of a ride on his wondrous vehicle [snow-mobile?].
Be mobile on one's mobile-phone rather than move across the earth in such rough and tough conditions and climes.
I shudder to think of Mother Earth's agonizing plight at the way it has all come about .What use Copenhagen summits and Inter-governmental Glacier Conferences ?
God Save Earth...!!!
